Does formatting reorder my tags?

No. It mainly normalizes indentation, line breaks, and whitespace around attributes. It does not rewrite content in a way that changes its meaning.

Can it repair broken HTML?

It targets well-formed HTML. It does not auto-repair HTML with mismatched tags.

What formatting does

Parses your HTML and aligns indentation and line breaks for nested tags, tidies matching open and close tags, and normalizes extra whitespace between tags. It focuses on making valid HTML more legible.

Limitations

The input should be well-formed HTML that closes its tags properly. This tool does not repair mismatched tags or recompute table column spans (rowspan / colspan). Script and style contents are treated as text and are not rewritten. Formatting is not HTML validation.

Input `<div><p>Hello</p><span>World</span></div>` becomes an indented tree with each tag on its own line, so a diff against the original is readable.

Privacy & local processing

All HTML is formatted entirely in your browser by static JavaScript. Nothing is uploaded, and no signup or API key is required. FormatArc is built with Next.js static export.
